Are You An Ideal Candidate For Microdermabrasion?
Beauty is only skin deep. It’s just an expression, a cliché. The skin is the largest organ in the body. Now, that’s just a fact. Did you know that skin plays an important role in regulating body temperature? Your skin has the ability to regenerate itself, shedding dead cells on a daily basis. When it comes to skin, most people’s knowledge barely breaks the surface. As a medical spa with its own resident dermatologist, skin care is our domain.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure used to repair damaged facial skin. Our microdermabrasion system uses a diamond head to exfoliate the skin and a vacuum system to remove the dead skin cells. The diamonds are laser cut, which lowers the risk of skin irritation.

Who is the ideal candidate for microdermabrasion?
Candidates for microdermabrasion should be relatively healthy, with common skin issues or imperfections. Acne and acne scars would be the perfect example. The exfoliation will clear clogged pores. This will reduce acne in most cases. If this sounds like a younger person’s concern, microdermabrasion stimulates collagen and elastin production. It removes the top layer of old, dead skin cells and smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Other issues it will address include sun damage, uneven pigmentation and minor scars. The most severe condition we tend to treat is probably rosacea, a condition that causes chronic inflammation of the skin. It tends to appear red or swollen, and can cause acne-like eruptions. Who is not the ideal candidate for microdermabrasion?
Not that we wish to turn anyone away, but microdermabrasion is not right for everyone. Microdermabrasion is not intended for the treatment of major scars, deep wrinkles, facial warts or sagging skin. Anyone with uncontrolled diabetes or undiagnosed facial lesions are not idea candidates. Pregnant women should also avoid the treatment.
Of course, our services extend beyond microdermabrasion. We offer a whole host of facial skin care treatments. The best way we can be of service to you is to have you in for a consultation. From there, we can best determine if you are an ideal candidate for microdermabrasion, or one of our other treatments.
