How CoolSculpting Replaced the Tummy Tuck

For years, the tummy tuck was the cosmetic surgery of choice to make the abdomen thinner and firmer. Now, the FDA-approved controlled cooling treatment known as CoolSculpting is the method of choice. It eliminates stubborn fat unaffected by diet and exercise. No surgery, needles or downtime is required. Let’s run a comparison.

A Less Invasive Procedure

The term ‘tummy tuck’ has always been perceived as an invasive and potentially dangerous surgery. Its original name, abdominoplasty, is not as cute and reassuring. The procedure begins with an incision made from hip to hip just above the pubic area. Another incision is made to free the navel from the surrounding skin. The skin is then detached from the abdominal wall. This reveals the muscles and fascia to be tightened, with sutures. The transition zones of the abdominal sculpture are refined by liposuction. Finally, a dressing and sometimes a compression garment is applied, while excess fluid is drained.

CoolSculpting also used to have a scary name: Cryolipolysis. However, the procedure is far less of a threat to your time, your wallet and your overall well-being. The process uses non-invasive technology to target fat cells, freeze them and allows them to pass through your body naturally.

Takes Far Less Time

In terms of time, CoolSculpting has the advantage. A tummy tuck takes between one to three hours to complete. It then takes two weeks before you can even resume sedentary work. Forget exercising or more rigorous physical activities until at least a month or more.  On the other hand, one CoolSculpting treatment can take anywhere from 35 to 60 minutes. Most clients return to their normal activities immediately.  Some get it done during lunch or after work.

Costs Far Less

A tummy tuck can cost between $3000 and $12000. You would also have to find a surgeon and investigate clinics and their geographic location. You will have to spend time recovering, there will be medication and medical supplies to consider, not mention lost time from work.A single CoolSculpting session is much less of a hassle on your routine and costs significantly less compared to cosmetic surgery alternatives. There is also far less downtime (Just the visit to the office) and no need for medications once the treatment is complete.
