Microneedling Pre-Care & Aftercare Instructions
How to Prepare for Microneedling and Protect Your Skin After Treatment
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation procedure designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, and certain acne scars by stimulating the skin’s natural repair response.
At Eureka Body Care & Spa, proper preparation and aftercare are important parts of your treatment experience.
Before Your Microneedling Appointment
- Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure before treatment.
- Inform your provider about active acne, cold sores, infections, or open wounds.
- Discuss any history of poor wound healing, keloid scarring, or skin sensitivity.
- Tell your provider about prescription skincare products, retinoids, and recent cosmetic procedures.
- Follow your provider’s instructions about when to discontinue exfoliating acids or other active skincare ingredients.
- Arrive with clean skin and avoid applying makeup when possible.
After Your Microneedling Treatment
- Expect temporary redness, warmth, tightness, or sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn.
- Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours or longer if directed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive heat for the initial recovery period.
- Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate treated skin.
- Use only gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and recovery products approved by your provider.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and strong active skincare products until cleared by your provider.
- Protect healing skin from direct sun exposure and follow your provider’s sunscreen instructions.
What to Expect During Recovery
First 24 hours: Redness, warmth, tightness, and mild swelling may occur.
Days 2–3: Skin sensitivity and redness generally begin improving.
Days 4–7: Most temporary irritation typically resolves, although recovery varies depending on treatment depth and individual skin response.
